Join our distribution team....

....and get paid to keep fit!

Thank you for your interest in helping to deliver the Konect magazine and/or the Dell Directory.

Are you at school, retired or just looking for something to do in your spare time that generates some income? Delivering the magazine is a few hours once a month in your local area (subject to routes being available). It gets you out and about for some gentle exercise whilst paying you for your efforts.

Here's what you need to know:

At Lothian Publications Ltd we print and distribute over 45,000 magazines each month across different towns and villages in West Lothian, and in parts of south west Edinburgh.

The ultimate success of the magazine depends on it being delivered to all areas in a timely and correct manner, and for that we have a team of wonderful local people who each take responsibility for delivering a given number of doors in their own "patch" every month.

Our magazines are divided into six separate editions covering these areas:

  • Bathgate, Wester Inch, Torphichen, Broxburn

  • Linlithgow, Linlithgow Bridge, Blackness

  • Livingston, Uphall, Uphall Station

  • Mid Calder, East Calder, Kirknewton & Pumpherston

  • Balerno, Currie, Juniper Green, Baberton & Ratho

  • Colinton, Kingsknowe & Craiglockhart (The Dell Directory)

In order to apply for a delivery round please read the following, then hit the "apply" button at the bottom of the page:

1) Payment

The work is paid at £7.50 per 100 magazines delivered. i.e if you deliver 350 magazines, it's £7.5 x 3.5 = £26.25.

  • To give you a rough guide on the time that would take, on most routes you can do around 100 to 120 magazines per hour. It may take you a little longer to start with as you get to know the route, but it gets quicker as you learn the route, find out where all the letterboxes are and get into a rhythm.

Additional payments:

Sometimes - not every month - there are leaflets to go with the magazine too. The rate goes up by £1 per 100 for each additional leaflet, up to a maximum of three leaflets per magazine.

Payment method:

Payment is deposited directly into your bank account once the route is completed.

2) Status

You are self-employed for purposes of taxation

3) Equipment

Distributors use their own bags, everyone has a different preference: back pack, tote.

  • If you feel you need a trolley for your route, please let us know and we will assess any request.

4) Delivery Frequency

The work is once per month, at the end of the month, every month except December. You receive the magazines dropped off to your home, in boxes, along with any leaflets to be included.

•  Drop off to your home is usually within the last 7 to 10 days of the month, with the exception of December. (There is no distribution over Xmas and New Year).

•  You will receive an email in advance each month to confirm the drop off date and to ask you to confirm your availability.

•  We ask that you complete your route within 5 days of drop-off. There is usually a weekend included within these five days.

5) Supervision

For under 18s, we ask that a parent is available to consent to the work, to oversee and ensure the route is completed. The minimum age for a distributor is 13. There is no maximum age.

6) Personal qualities needed

The top qualities we need our distributors to have are:

  • respect: for the people and properties you are delivering to.

  • honesty: deliver the whole route; tell us if you mess up so we can help fix it.

  • communication: let us know anything that will affect your ability to complete your route in a timely way; telling us about any houses you had to miss. Life happens, but we do need to know so that we can plan.

  • work ethic: if you take on a responsibility, see it through to completion to the best of your ability.

Each issue of the magazine can be between 32 and 64 pages every month.
